Mahongah Wala Joseph is a highly
qualified fisheries expert with over twenty-five years’ experience in the State
Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries in Kenya. He holds a Master’s degree
in International Studies in Aquatic Tropical Ecology, University of Bremen in Germany. He is well versed in fisheries sector matters
having participated in the development of current Policy and Legal Framework
used in the management of the fisheries sector in Kenya. His areas of specialization include the development of Policy,
Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Sustainable Blue Economy, and transboundary
cooperation. Mr. Mahongah also has valuable experience in organizing international,
national and regional multi-stakeholder workshops, capacity building
initiatives including technical assistance missions. In the course of his
career life, he has served as the lead consultant for the UNDP Somalia Project on Improving Livelihood
through support to Fishery Sector in Puntland where he worked on the
conceptual framework for the
development of the Fisheries sector; Supporting Fish marketing through private
sector support. “Creating A Business Plan” through various stakeholder
workshops and Creating Market outlets and awareness to promote increased fish consumption.
