Skills
I am interested in coral reef research especially coral health and disease. I did a Masters project in Marine Biology on coral health and disease in the Egyptian Red Sea. This project provided baseline information on coral disease, coral bleaching, and other health states that affect coral reefs in this region. I came to JCU to join Prof David Miller's lab to study for my PhD in genomics and metagenomics of coral reefs. In my PhD research, I am interested in applying ecological genomics and next generation DNA sequencing tools to study some aspects of coral biology such as: coral-algal symbiosis, Coral-associated eukaryotic microorganisms and coral health.
