My research centres on the role of governance in building resilient and
sustainable communities. My focus is on coastal communities and the role of
environmental planning, collaboration and conflict resolution in bridging
science-policy-practice interfaces to reduce disaster risk and build resilience
and sustainability. Research themes include: (i) Natural hazards planning,
resilience, vulnerability and risk governance, with a focus on disaster risk reduction and
post-disaster recovery; (ii) Adapting to climate change; and (iii) Integrated
coastal management, coastal risks and governance.
