The mission of the Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation is to administrate, to operate and to investigate the activities related to environment sciences in the aquatic surroundings, with the purpose of contributing to the national development, offering support and security in the navigation to the Naval Forces and the navigator in general and, to contribute to the fulfillment of the institutional objectives.

Vision:
Naval power capable of acting successfully wherever national interests require.

Mission:
Exercise the vigilance and protection of national interests in the maritime, fluvial and lacustrine areas, and support the State's foreign policy through the Naval Power, assume control of internal order, contribute to the economic and social development of the country and participate in the Civil Defense according to law, in order to contribute to guarantee the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic and the general welfare of the population.
