Marine Scotland Science, Marine Laboratory

Established on 1 April 2009, Marine Scotland brings together the functions and resources of the previous SG Marine Directorate, Fisheries Research Services ( Marine Scotland Science) and Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency ( Marine Scotland Compliance). Marine Scotland has around 700 staff, a network of offices and laboratories around Scotland, and substantial support assets, including research and protection vessels, and surveillance aircraft. Marine Scotland's mission is to manage Scotland's seas for prosperity and environmental sustainability - supporting the SG's overall purpose of sustainable economic growth and our vision for our marine and coastal areas.
