PTWS Working Group 3 Task Team Tsunami Ready Meeting
Summary
At its 30th session held in Nuku'alofa, Tonga, 11-15 September 2023, the ICG/PTWS formed a Task Team under Working Group 3 to facilitate and coordinate efforts relating to the Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme and within the ICG/PTWS, in support of UN Ocean Decade Goals.
This will be the first meeting of the task team to determine forward work for the intersessional period, and particularly to inform an approach towards the investigation and proposal of a Tsunami Ready equivalency for countries not wanting/planning/unable to implement the UNESCO-IOC Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme, an action noted at ICG/PTWS-XXX and TOWS-WG-XVI.
This meeting will include Task Team members and invited experts from other ICGs, and will be held online.
