This workshop will focus on evolving and sustaining ocean best practices and standards over the next decade. It is primarily an interactive meeting with panels and breakouts; the participants’ engagement is important to the outcomes.
We are anticipating about 50 people, with a mix of expertise from sensors and calibration to data processes/management to modeling and user applications. These include senior members of the community and also young professionals from diverse countries. Our objective is to define the next three to five years in looking at methods and standards development and adoption.
To achieve these objectives we list the workshop outcomes as (1) recommendations for best practice synthesis (2) an articulated strategic direction for ocean best practices and 3) recommendations for further Ocean Best Practices System development/implementation embedding outcomes from community input.
