The Thirteenth Session of the IOC of UNESCO Sub-Commission for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions SC-IOCARIBE-XIII was held in Merida, Mexico 25-28 May 2015. It was attended by 30 participants from eleven countries of the Caribbean Region and two Regional Organizations. The Session reviewed progress made during the Intersessional period 2012 - 2015. The Subcommission adopted eleven recommendations concerning: (i) Decision IOC-XXVII 3.3.3 IOC Subcommission for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (IOCARIBE); (ii) IOCARIBE Capacity Development Strategy; (iii) Caribbean Large Marine Ecosystem CLME; (iv) IOC Working Group on Harmful Algae in the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (HAB-ANCA); (v) ICAM LA Project; (vi) IOC Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Tsunami and other Coastal Hazards Warning System for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions; (vii) Ocean Data and Information Network for the Caribbean and Latin America ODINCARSA-LA ; (viii) Caribbean Marine Atlas CMA2; IOCARIBE-GOOS; (ix) IOCARIBE-GOOS; (x) Budget and Programme for 2016-2017; and, (xii) IOCARIBE 35th Anniversary – International Marine Science Conference. A new Board of Officers for the IOCARIBE Sub-Commission was elected for the period 2015-2017. Mr. Francisco Brizuela Venegas (Mexico) was elected by acclamation as Chairperson, Mr. Arnulfo Sanchez Morales (Panama) was re-elected as Vice-Chairperson, Ms. Bonnie Ponwith (United States) was elected as Vice-Chairperson and Ms. Donna Sakura-Lemessy (Trinidad & Tobago) was elected as Vice-chairperson.
